Outboard Handwheel
My older Rockwell lathe has a 1"-8tpi left hand thread on the outboard. I want to make a handwheel that will also hold a sensor for a tachometer. I can get a nut the correct size. Thinking of brazing it to a 1/8" plate the screwing that to a wooden disc. Thoughts?

You probably could do without the plate and brazing. Drill a suitable hole in the wooden wheel and chisel corners to fit the nut corners and epoxy the nut into the hole/wheel. Nothing wrong with your plate idea, though.

You could buy the washer already welded to the correct nut for $10.00

After a bit of rummaging around I found the outboard faceplate I thought had!
