Yes, but I'm still wondering why M.Sabin Smith starts his coloring regime with a dark undercoat. I believe it's to add some depth to the color (in the video I saw he used a gray undercoat and added red over it.) In watercolor painting if you start with a dark gray undercoat and add a color, you're going to darken the whole effect.
