They do work kind of, but I have known of several who bought them, and they just sit. Mine as well. Other tools can do the same job. Apparently they were a Sorby imitation of an Allen Batty tool. In a work shop I had with both Stuart and Allen, he commented, 'they got it all wrong'. Allen's tool was closer to the fluteless gouge that Doug Thompson sells and ground more to a spindle detail gouge profile.
