Vacuum Stabilizing vs. Pressure Pot Resin
Doug Reynolds
I have been watching a number of YouTube videos where turners are either vacuum stabilizing wood or, using a pressure pot and resin to "cast" pieces of wood in order to turn something. I have never done either though I am about to do my first vacuum stabilization project.
I am trying to better understand the difference. Can I, for example, achieve the same results using either vacuum or pressure to stabilize wood? What is the difference between the resin used to stabilize and the resin used in the pressure pot?
Is there a source for a primer on the resin pressure pot technique? Where does one buy the required pressure pot?
Thank you in advance, Doug in Sunny Seattle
