The good news: I purchased a Laguna Revo 1216 from my local Woodcraft outlet.

The pain: it will not be delivered till mid-May.

I feel like I just bought a Tesla.

Laguna advertises (too) loudly that it is "designed in America".

What that really means is that it's built in Asia, like everything else these days.

So Laguna gets my order and hopefully puts one on the next boat.

All that aside, I'm really excited about it -- the specs appear to fit my needs perfectly, and the reviews are quite positive.

I'll be starting my Jet 1236 with the hand wheel and whacking the Reeves pulley with a rubber hammer for at least another 75 days. ...GG

My Robust was designed and made in America. I don't' remember the wait time and while it seemed like months I'm sure it was weeks.

Good for you Gary-Congratulations! I hope it will be well worth the wait.

You sure got a lot of mileage out of that good old Jet didn't you!

My name is Don and I'm a Turning addict. There, I finally can admit I have a problem. The problem is not enough time to turn! I work as a Medical Imaging Tech for a living but that's just so I can light and heat the shop and buy more tools. I've been turning since 2000 and it has changed my life. My interests in turning are many and varied and I'm sure I will not live long enough to try everything I'd like to, but I'll give it a shot. Unfortunately we don't have any children or pets so you'd think I have all kinds of free time to turn, but for some reason I don't. I belong to the Adirondack Woodturners Association in upstate New York, the Mohawk Valley Woodturners, the Old Country Guild of Woodturnes and AAW, as well as the Northeastern Woodworkers Association. It served me very well. If they were still making it, I would likely have bought another one, and I would have recommended it to people looking for a good midi. ...GG

I know several people with Robust lathes. Sweet machines.

Unfortunately, they don't make one at 200#.

So after it warms up, I'll just go on starting the 1236 with the hand wheel and whacking the Reeves pulley as long as I have to. :-p

Did you investigate the Oneway 12" lathe? Pretty nice and North American made.
