In a trial run of a small bowl( 2.5x3) I tried wipe on poly and had color migration. Sanded it off and tried shellac sealer and still had dye run into the white from blue and red. Any suggestions on finish to keep colors constant.
….dyed and laminated material, and color migration has not been a problem. But I would have thought the shellac would work as well, so you may have encountered dye running due to the type of dyes used in the laminate production.
Hmm, I turned something from it last week and tried a couple of things. Oil made everything darker and destroyed the contrast. Two coats of shellac sanding sealer brushed on worked for me and I didn't see any color bleed. But I didn't have red or bright blue.
