Ring Lights

What is anyone's opinion of the 14" ring lights that Amazon sells? Would they work for photographing bowls or am I wasting my time and money? Thanks.

Hey might work. The lighting would be very flat and you would have a reflection right in the center of every piece you shoot. Ring lights.are for shooting people. With the light right around the lens it reduces shadows in the lines of your face so you look younger. Typically on bowls you want a shadow to show off the shape otherwise it looks flat.

….ring highlights, but they work well for non-reflective subjects when you want to reduce shadows. I don't know anything about the Amazon lights you mentioned, but these types of ring lights don't put out very much light over distances as they were mostly used for close-up subjects.
