Jet capacitor redux -- got the right one

If you have an old Jet 1236 lathe, pay attention here.

After I received a replacement motor starting cap that was too long for the can on the motor, I called back and spoke with "Laurie" and then "Tony" at Jet/Wilton. After my description of the problem and giving him the exact measurements, he had an "aha" moment and said he'd send me the correct cap. I just received it today, and it is.

Here's what you need to ask for.

The first one the sent me (too long for the can on the motor of my 16-year-old Jet 1236) was listed as Jet Part # JWL1236-C. Sounded reasonable, but was not correct.

The new, correct one that you will need is listed by them as part number JWL1236-C2. It is 200 mikes, and the body (not including the terminals) is 2-5/16" (58 mm) long.

Glad to hear you finally got the correct part. I had to get one last year for my 18 yr old Jet 1014 and they sent the correct 1 1st time. Lucky I guess.

Happy Turning!
