I have my grandfather's grinder that is older than most of you. It runs,at 3450 rpm. Can CBN wheels be used at the speed?

Just be careful on how hard you press down on the wheel with your turning tools as they will remove a lot of steel very quickly at 3450rpm

Depends on what CBN wheel you use. I did a test the other day and ground my skew with my 350 grit CBN and then used it straight off the grinder. It cut very well. Not as good as when I hone it with my 1200 grit hone but it would be quite good for most people. You can of course get CBN wheels up to 1000 grit.

#12You can of course get CBN wheels up to 1000 grit.

The wheels are CBN. I have fat fingers.
Glad to know they will work on a high speed grinder.
