SpectraPly gone out of business?

Ed Davidson

There's something fishy going on with Cousineau Wood Products, makers of the laminated color-wood SpectraPly. They haven't been answering phone calls or responding to emails for the past several weeks. And, the order I place mid-May has not shipped yet. Anyone up in the Bangor Maine area know what's happening?

I got an email from them, touting a new look. No idea what that meant.

Yeah, I got the same email about their "new" site...that looks almost exactly the same as the old one. The SpectraPly site had gone completely dark from late May until that email came out last week. But they're still not responding to any form of communication. I saw some FaceBook posts today about their wonderful product demos at the AAW symposium last weekend. The whole situation doesn't make much sense.

There was a Cousineau Wood Products booth at the Portland AAW symposium selling color ply.

SpectraPly is in business

After trying to get in touch for the past three weeks, someone finally picked up the phone this morning. Apparently, everything is backordered, with shipments taking 1 to 2 months. Good to know the mill hasn't burned down.

I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who was getting a bit concerned. I placed a rather substantial order from them in late May. Normally, I receive the shipment within 10 days. Not this time!

I called and called an called with no results. Finally got an email after I left a message on the recorder. Now I guess I just wait. It is frustrating because they have my funds (credit card) for which I am accruing interest and I have no product to sell! Damn ...

Well... there was a booth

He wasn't there most of the time. I saw people putting money on the table and walking away with what they wanted.

I'm going to guess that not everyone left money.
