There's no paint. they eyes are maple and Padauk. The eyebrows are Ebony and the mirror is cherry.

Amazing work as usual, John. Can you describe your painting technique, materials, equipment, etc.? Do you topcoat after your color coat? The surface quality looks great.

For the Galaxy mirrors i first put down a coat of black. The rough up the surface lightly burgandy scotch bright to vive it some tooth cor the colors. Then i do my thing with the air brush followed by a light first coat.with lacquer or a thin coat of wipe on poly. The. I follow.with more coats.of the same finish. That mirror i used lacquer, abou 6 coats.

I took a class with Binh Pho many years ago. When I got home I really didn't know what I would do with it. I did a lot of really amatuer stuff, just coloring the tops of vessels or things like that. Then I got the idea to enhance some mirrors that looked kind of like Galaxies and that's how I got this far. Learning the techniques to do that has now opened my eyes to other possibilities so I will start working on those shortly.
