Dogwood stool

OK I call it a dogwood stool because of the air brushing but it's made out of a 200 year old Oak that used to be on the Tennessee Tech University campus. I did a lot of photos either under that tree or it was part of the photo.

Oh, Danger Will Robinson..... My neighbor's wife, next to my new shop and house (end of summer), is a painter and I have been looking for an idea to give her some thing as a 'project'. I met her husband when I poked a vein with some bailing wire, and he took me to the emergency room for stitches....
One question, how do you protect the painting from long term sitting???

That's a good question. I chose polyeurethane as a finish because it's much tougher than other finishes. I may experiement with epoxy. System 3 mirror coat is something I used many many years ago for a project like this but it was too long ago to remember much about it other than it went on very thick and looked great when done. Can't remember if I had problems with drips or anything. A lot of guys have been experimenting with brushing on epoxy and then slow turning the piece with a rotisserie motor and getting fantastic results. That may be the way to go.
