... turning project with the Kentucky Arboretum, we source wood there and turn items for a silent auction in June. This take is split 50/50 and provides a reason to get the turning members involved on a project with a deadline! I recently turned this 17"Wx5"H Walnut bowl with somewhat wider edges to emphasize the rustic bark for potential buyers that aren't turners that expect thinner edges.

I agree completely about the edge.
The end result is the goal, and IMO, that's to SHOW the bark, not to make it as thin as you can.
