Doing a stool making demo for our club. The tall stool is one I made in 2000. I made lots of other small ones over the years. I made these 2 this week just for fun. Wanted some air brush practice so I made the butterfly. Then I had to make a turned version of a Fart Muffler stool someone made my Dad about 20 years ago. Too much fun

What do you use to drill the angles on the holes right?

I use an number of techniques. This time I just used the Drilll press and placed a block under the stool top to get the angle what I wanted. I often use a brace and bit and just set an angle gouge near the bit. The long shaft of the bits makes it easy to get the angle pretty accurate. The problem with these was I didn't want the tenon to go all the way through and the Auger bit has too long of a point so it makes the hole too shallow. I custom ground an Paddle bit to have a very short point and it will work in my drill press or my hand drill. For the hand drill I add an extension this makes it pretty easy to line up with my angle gauge.

Gary Hinegardner did a demo for Woodturners of Southwest Missouri and it is on You Tube. It is 3 parts but pretty entertaining and he has a pretty easy way of alignment for drilling the holes. I think it is in part 2 but not sure. He drills the hole on the lathe (stopped of course).
