Piercing issues

I am relatively new to piercing and have had an issue with the burr wanting to come out of its seat. Continued use for some reason wants to loosen the collett and force it out. I am not using the NSK high speed hand piece but an older Starlite high speed hand piece. Any thoughts on why I am experiencing this would be appreciated.

Any collet loosening issues can be traced to mating surfaces not mating truly to each other.
Shaft must be fully inserted (at least to the full depth of the straight portion of the gripping area) in a collet that is in good condition.
On one occasion I found the inner collet part to be actually for a different collet system....the angled mating areas were not the same angle.
At least I have never found the cause to be anything else.....YMMV

What's your wall thickness? Too thick of material requires more force. Lower rpm of that unit, compared to high speed dental style drill, requires a slower feed. Both of these factors will go against you with more vibration and are common problems amongst beginners.
