Slightly OT-Smoke Removal While Woodburning

I am going to be doing a significant amount of wood burning and I’m wondering if anyone has a good remedy to get rid of the smoke. I was thinking of getting a carbon filter for my Wood River carving station dust collector, but I am having trouble finding the right size filter (10 x 20) in a reasonable quantity. It seems I can get a pack of 12 many places, but just a couple are hard to find.

Try Lowes or Ace. I use a fan sucking across the woodburning piece. Don't blow on it that will cool the pen

When I do burning, I like to do it out side. I usually have a breeze blowing by in the afternoon and that seems to keep all the smoke going away from me. But, if needed, I use a window fan to pull the smoke away. Again...out side. I find I do not like the smoke smell in the shop even when I am not burning.

I do l8e to burn outside also, but unfortunately the weather here is not going to cooperate in the near future.
I did try the big box stores, but no luck in the size I want.

I bought a "standard" sized (20 x 20) filter with activated charcoal at Lowes about five years ago for one of the house I was working on. The house had pee smell and the filter was the last of a long and expensive things we did to remove the smell. It helped, but I don't know how long it would function.
You can buy activated charcoal in quantity,loose for water filters. Wonder if you could spread it over a regular filter and make some sort of horizontal down draft table out of a box fan. Probably easier and cheaper to order filters online.

Google pyrography fume extraction or pyrography smoke extraction. This is a universal need. The pyrography books also address smoke and fumes.

You could do your pyrography on the stove top and turn on the range hood...activated carbon filters are usually a lot smaller/cheaper for range hoods.

I dont do much of what i call branding which is how i describe Molly Winton and Greame Priddle,s style of pyrography. Most of what i do is closer to Cynthia Gibson,s style which is low temparatue drawing. So i dont create a lot of smoke. When i did i have.a.small muffin fan the i rig up to blow right below my chin. The keeps the smoke.out of my face and doesnt blow on the burning pen.

I don't follow on the "wood carving station" is that a brand?
Anyway there is a unit branded Razaire and they have a charcoal filter for it. I just saw it on www.craftsupplyusa.com yesterday.
I didn't price just the filter, but they also sell other types of filters for it.
It looks like a really nice unit if you don't have a larger dust collector but bit on the expensive side.
