turning laminated beams

Has anyone turned a laminated beam? My new subdivision is pitching more wood than you can imagine, the dumpster are full of good wood, maybe not for turning fine pieces but good to practice on.
I found a 7"x 3.5"x 6' long laminated beam that weighs alot. Can this be turned or will this be a wasted effort? Can it ruin tools?

They can be turned but it is hard work. There is so much glue in those products that tools dull quickly. Joe

Depends. If its laminated particle board dont mess with it. If its laminated like plywood you can have a lot of fun with it.

There are several Craftsman that use laminated plywood to make large sculpture and furniture pieces.
A large number of these pieces can be viewed on Google Images for ideas.
