A Piece of Wood Finally Spoke to Me...
Jake Niedling
I had a nice green ambrosia maple block that I received during this years club gift exchange for Christmas. I decided to turn a hollow form out of it. Well when I was nearly done hollowing out the inside to a uniform 1/4" thickness, the wood decided it wanted to be a cracked hollow vessel. These cracks were not present (visible) when I turned the outside shape. I turned it all in one session. I just wish the wood would have spoken to me early, before I put that much work into it.
The piece is about 7" x 5".
Oh well, On to the next project, a 10" square platter.
