Cypress Hollow Form
David Smith
Feeling better today from the pneumonia that I've had for a while now. So I decided to take a few pictures of some turnings that I finished up earlier this month. I was in California last month visiting my mother and met a turner down there that let me use his Robust American Beauty, he was kind to let me use it numerous times. What a lathe! I was just messing around with a piece of cypress practicing some cuts and some hollowing and when I brought home the rather drab piece of wood I decided to try dying it. Glad I did. There are knots all the around the base, the second photo is of the back side. Reminds me of glowing logs in a fire pit. Stands 11 inches tall and is dyed black on the inside.
