Until you can overlay the concrete with a wooden floor, at least throw a rubber horse mat down in front of the lathe (and other work stations where you stand a lot). Here is an example:

They are pretty inconvenient, but not impossible, to move out of the way.

Thank you William, I'll pick one next time in the nearest city. I could use it right away, my legs are fine in a hike, but complain when turning.
The horse stall rubber matts are......

... made from recycled tires, thick and weigh a ton! I had to cut the ones in my shop into sections with a Skillsaw. Since I made my living in the horse business I was well aware of these matts, and they are virtually indestructible.

They might even weigh more than pine t&g flooring, and you would have difficulties rolling machinery on a mobile base across them, but they are moveable when necessary and easy on the feet (or hooves).
