Found Camera Lucida app mentioned in a pyrography forum. Looks promising for some embellishment, maybe even basket illusion? Looks like you might be able to use it as a duplicator even? Might be tough to bring it to exact scale though.
I'd go bonkers trying to draw through that tiny screen. It might be more useful with a big screen. Still, the hand-eye coordination would require some retraining.
At one of the computer graphics conventions I attended (sometime in the '90s, I think) Wacom showed their new drawing tablet with a large screen. You drew directly on the screen with a stylus pen. The software gave you a variety of pen and brush styles and editing tools. You could use a digital photo exactly like the little app you showed with similar digital filters and controls to draw on an overlay and the professional artists there were doing amazing things. Now that's the way to go! (Cost was a bit more than the $1.99 though)
I haven't kept up with the technology so I would probably be surprised at what is available now.
Dick, I have the app, and, although I haven’t used it that much, it’s a nifty app. It’s inexpensive and works. You could use an iPad but the large size could get in the way. Check out Alan Zenreich’s videos which show Lauren using it.
