There was an article years ago in the AAW journal where a hole saw with the teeth ground off was used to make spheres. This guy's setup is similar I have to say. For now, I’ll rely on my gouges for spheres.

I've made spheres that way. Here are some tiny ones:
If the cutting circle is smaller than the sphere and you swing the tool from side to side you can make good sphere without it catching inside the tool as shown near the end of that video.
