General stopped manufacturing in Canada

Dick Coers

From the vintage machinery website;

In June 2012 General announced that they were ceasing the manufacture of machinery in Canada and would henceforth only carry their General International line of Taiwanese-made machinery

Some parts for the Quebec manufactured products were available for a while. The remains of the company gathered around the General International imported products a few years ago. Initially was sold to a US investor group, the US Distrubution center opened and then company sold to an offshore (= Far East) company. It is a shambles now. There is little accurate information available of exactly what the status is. Rumours say almost no one left in Montreal operation. Another Canadian import company King has apparently taken on some products and rebranding.
