We had a great time. The clouds were incredibly cooperative. My son and his friend came down from Arkansas and were properly entrtained by John as were we all. A once in a lifetime event shared by friends and family. It was pretty cool hearing stories of all the people who came thousands of miles to visit our area.

Looks like it was a good and memorable day.

I was in the 95% zone yesterday. My location will again be in the 95% zone in 2024.

i was surprised by the pictures/images that filtered through the tree leaves. Saw those from several people.

Charlie Anderson, the guy I got my PM3520b from, took a bunch of photos. This one is pretty cool. You can see some of the solar prominences on the edge.

Charlie is shooting the partial eclipse here. The filter comes off to get pictures of the corona and prominences at totality.

We also saw the amazing shimmering shadow lines running at high speed across the concrete on the edges of totality, only lasts a few seconds. I got a bit of video of that.

The sun did play peek-a-boo with the clouds before the totality but decided to give us a perfect view for the main event. It was actually quite interesting to watch the wisps of the edges moving across the image in the telescope.

I was in the zone of totality here in SC which was exciting. But even more exciting was observing through my cataracts - neat psychedelic shapes.

I let the trees be my viewing filter

I first saw those decades ago during a partial eclipse here. I was walking with some associates down a tree-lined sidewalk at work when I looked down and saw the sidewalk covered with thousands of tiny sun crescents. They were smaller that what we saw at John Lucas's place since the trees were short. I've looked for them every time since.

I was out in a canoe back in a swamp looking up through some ancient cypress, thinking I might be able to capture something different, but that was a bad choice. I was using a 4' x 5" welding helmet lens over my camera, which made it too difficult to hold my camera still enough. However one of the images had a nice artistic appeal.

I was hoping that I could get some of that nice shadow detail shooting down from a duck blind, onto the solid cover of duckweed but cypress needles didn't provide the right pinhole effect. That is OK though. I thoroughly enjoyed soaking my clothes with sweat, while being dive-bomed by deer and horseflies while I was out there.
