Inspired by Jamie's posts on turning stock you've had for a while, PLUS, I have to condense the stock in my shed, AGAIN. So started with this block of curly ash I harvested, probably 15 years ago. Really pleased as the curl is so perpendicular to the rift cut growth rings. My question, if I start selling blocks like this, any hints on what I could charge for blocks 10" square by 3 1/2" thick?

Dick I still have a piece of that Ash. I remember you harvesting that wood. It was a huge tree. Wish we could have gotten more before insects got into it.

Greg has said the same thing a couple of times. Shirley has said just the opposite! To explain to others, I had a permit to harvest from our cities landscape holding area. I made it my mission to save as much figured wood as possible before they ground it to mulch for several years. Much to my wife's dismay.

If you have a good supply how about donating a few pieces for a WoodCentral benefit auction? I'd bid on one.
Since WC doesn't charge to maintain this web site every bit of cash that comes in would help all of us who use it. I know I'd feel a loss if it went away!
Years ago Jim King from Peru donated some beautiful exotics and there was a lot of interest. I still have some fantastic blocks from those auctions.

Well I'm the guy that is buried in turning blanks, but am incredibly torn with the thought of selling even one. I guess I'm one avalanche away from selling, so I'll let you know when they slide out the door. Or when I finally get feed up with not being to turn around in my shop without bumping into wood. Then when I sell, the moisture on the blanks will be tears. LOL!
