PM 4224 Tool Rest Lock Handle
Don Stephan
Another problem with my PM 4224 became worse this week. There is a threaded bolt and handle on the banjo to lock the the tool rest post. It works fine with the 7" factory tool rest, but slipping has become more of a problem with the 14" factory tool rest. Admittedly there can be quite a bit of leveraged force near the ends of such a long tool rest when taking a heavy pull cut on the outside of a bowl, but it even was slipping once or twice while taking a push cut directly over the post.
The posts of the tool rests are both undamaged - no galling, scratching, et cetera. The end of the locking handle bolt is shiny and unevenly rounded. I can file it flat, but have no easy way to make the shallow concave end found on allen screws.
Anyone encounter this before on locking screws and found a solution? Thanks.
