I haven't made one of these in a very long time and decided that's what this wood needed to be. About 5" across. Walnut.

I love the shape of the base, and the lid works well. I'm not sure about the knob - it seems a little large but maybe anything smaller would look too small. I do like a real knob on this rather than a thin, sharp finial.

Do you have a picture of the inside, showing the rim? I'm curious as to how you are fitting the lid.

John Don't have a photo. It's just a shallow rabbit cut into the downward curve. The lid overlaps that about 1/4" or more. I started to make the lid fall completely into the rabbitt like I do on onion boxes but decided to let it over lap. I thin the handle is too large as well. May try to take it off this ofter noon and reshape it.

Looks like there is plenty of wood on the knob to re-shape it into an ogee shape, similar to the box form, with a slight dome on the top. Nice box!

I did reshape it. Won't have time to shoot it until late tomorrow or thursday.
