There are only 10 types of people in the world.

Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Now that's funny!

When I was in software development I started to think in binary and hex. (Never octal)

You obviously weren't involved with Digital Equipment Corp computers like the PDP series.

A rope walks in a bar and orders a beer. Bartender say sorry, don't serve ropes in here. Rope walks out, knots one end leaving a shot length which he ruffles. Walks back in the bar and the bartender says told you I don't serve ropes. Rope says not a rope. Bartender says no? Rope says fraid knot.

No, mostly 6800, 6809, and a lot of hardware interfacing in assembly, Pascal, and C (that will hone your binary and hex!) My only PDP connection is this memory board in my little museum:

That's really neat, most people don't even know about core memory these days.

I worked with one of the original "clam shell" PDP-8s which was pre-integrated circuit and was constructed of what DEC called plug-in Flip-Chip modules. All the logic on the boards was discrete transistors and diodes. DEC later came out with the 8/I which was built with integrated circuits.

It had 2 4K 12-bit words memory modules and 2 fixed head disks which held 16 or 32KB each. The disks ran all the time and when the power was turned off you could hear the heads screeching on the platters when they slowed down. We never had any trouble with the disks.

How do we know PMS has been around since year 1? It says right in the

Bible Mary rode Joseph's ass all the way to Bethlehem.

Perhaps she is a bible scholar? :-)

Although legend says Mary traveled by donkey, to the best of my knowledge no where in the King James does it say what she rode to Bethlehem. According to some historians, common means of travel at that time were donkey, horse, camel, cart, and walking.

Since the distance was about 80 miles she probably rode something since walking might have been difficult for her. And yikes, walking through Sameria? Probably not a good idea for a Jew!

I personally like to think Joseph, gainfully employed in the noble profession of woodworking, could probably have afforded a more comfortable cart and horse, or perhaps even borrowed one from one of his fellow woodworkers, you know they are a helpful bunch. (Probably borrowed from a woodturner, everyone knows they are wonderful and generous people!) Or who knows, maybe he built carts himself.

Unfortunately, a nice cart ride would spoil the joke.
