I just received an email from an attendee from a hands on class that I conducted for the Central Ohio Woodturners, Columbus, OH last month (3/2-17). Here it is:
"Dick,
I wanted to share with you a sphere I turned using the techniques I learned in the class you taught recently at Woodwerks for the Central Ohio Woodturners. This “Death Star” is a birthday present for my 9 year old grandson, and is based on a design by Frank Howarth. It is about 7” in diameter, and is made of segmented bamboo plywood. I turned the segmented sphere between centers until I got a good round shape in one direction. Then I cut off the glue blocks, and followed the three-line technique you taught us.
Thank you.
Max Kackstetter"

I thik he understands how to turn a sphere!!!!
