I find that interesting. I'm not looking for atta boys. I guess I should post comments and critics welcome. One reason I publish my work is to try and get conversations going about techniques, design, tool usage, etc. By doing this I hope we can all learn something. I don't have a bit of problem with someone saying, I'm not so sure about that design, or perhaps you can try this. I'm open to all sorts of experimenting and will gladly discuss the techniques I use. I think I mentioned it but I learned about this technique using the flow extender from 2 other turners, who in turn learned it from someone else. The free flow of instruction is a lot of what turning is all about.

I'll be typing using my phone for the next 6 weeks except on weekends so please excuse the typos. I probably won't have much turning to display during this period either. I'll only be home on weekends and will have to get caught up on chores around the house before I can play.

I think they are gorgeous. So, how are they finished? It looks like dyed or painted wood, then iridescent pant, then oil or spray?

Im still experimenting. I used spray paint for the black under coat. That didnt work well. I tried using minwax wipe on poly as my final coat and it tended to smear the black. I then tried Krylon Fixatif that ive used o er a lot of other paints. It didnt bond well to the black and tried to rub off when i used the Beale Buff. I have switched to Trans Tint dyes or shoe dye both of which work a lot better but require 2 or 3 coats to get the necessary deep black. The JoSanjo paints are water based so im starti g my search for a really glossy finish that will be compatible and not look like thick plastic. Id like to.use.the commercial lacquer that ive.used for years but i still dont have my compressor hooked up. Its gonna take about $200 and a. Ouple of days to run all the connections and right now just dont have either
