You soak the wood ball in alcohol :-)
Easy method is to drill a hole in the wood blank and glue a ball bearing or nut in the blank and plug the hole.
Start with two halves and there won't be a visible wood plug.

He spins the ball as he releases it to make it wobble. I would like to see him roll it like a bowling ball and watch the crooked path depending on where the weight is to start, left side, right side, top/bottom, or diagonal weight??

Depending on how pronounced you wanted the effect to be, you could probably make it entirely of wood, like a box with lid, where one half was hollowed and the other was not.
