Had to replace some castor wheels on a cart at church. Couldn't buy just the wheels. I have a lathe. So turned some out of cherry and works great.

Wow. I guess that falls into the category of " give a man a lathe and everything looks round".
Did you put in a bronze bushing?

You might get a squeak if it's dry wood against steel.

Casters, not castors.

If they squeek, add a couple drops of oil during assembly. Wood is a good slow speed bearing, provided it is lubricated.
