Turners are just the best kind of people.....

Jesper, Denmark

As some here know, I moved from a very well equipped 1000 sq. ft. shop to an apartment in town due to health and age reasons. One of the ways to dispose of some of the tools was filling the trunk of my car with "stuff" and let people take what they wanted and pay what they thought OK into a can during a recent meet of turners from all over the country. Most of the "stuff" disappeared and the proceeds went to the owner of the shop holding the seance and opening his shop for he visitors.

Today was another meet at the same place. Someone, who apparently had "bought" something from the trunk and brought it home, found that what he had acquired was worth more than he had paid and gave me a handshake with about $75 in it.

I have no idea what he originally bought or paid, but the totally unnecessary gesture today just made me feel totally high on the people and their ethics and the hope for humanity that it indicates. It has nothing to do with money, but all to do with love and fairness to your peers.

Thank you H**s for your gesture, it meant a lot more to me than you can ever imagine.

I agree.

To be a woodworker/ turner-

You have to have a work space typically a garage or basement.

You need a job or retirement income, to pay for your addicti..er hobby

You have to have a creative mind

You are active

Typically a member of a club

Sober

these attributes all indicate a well adjusted, stable, honest, thoughtful, helpful, creative individual.

People I like to be around.

Wayne, I met all your requirements except the sober part. I am always sober while working in my shop, but after finishing for the day, tops are a popping.

Sober being a relative term,

Years ago I decided if I had 1- beer -no shop time for me- I haven't had a beer in years.

Rum

I would strongly agree with this sentiment and its a though I've had on more than one occasion. Y'all are super helpful and patient even with

A nicer group of folks would be truly hard to come across, the closest I think I've come is some of the beer brewing community.
