I had to learn how to hand chase threads for a special project, and decided to pursue it further. This a a piece of a bois d'arc fence post made into a container with a finial lid made from some kind of wood Jenny had in the shed. I like the slick formality of the finial juxtaposed with the rough weathered texture of the fence post.
I used some homemade chasers my friend Ernie Newman in Australia made from taps and dies and gave them to my Daddy. Daddy used them for years, even turning threads in segmented pieces, which Ernie swore couldn't be done. I inherited them from Daddy, and recently spent several days learning how to use them so I could make an urn for our veterinarian's cat Hammy, who lived at the clinic, and was a friend to all.
