Time off

Well just back from outpatient surgery on right foot. No turning, or much else, for a few weeks. Why is it that when you're not allowed to do something, it makes you want to do it more? O well, I have a bunch of DVD's on woodturning to review.

You made me smile with your comment. I've had a couple of shoulder and arm surgeries and I seem to come up with things I should do. Like climbing up in my attic to capture a squirrel after shoulder surgery or work on something that required a vise after arm surgery. Best give the keys to you shop to your wife, I know I should have.

Got home Wednesday, so far yesterday and today, I've watched a couple of woodturning DVD's and read quite a bit. Listening to doctor, but I could walk out to the shop, but doc said I can only walk to kitchen and bathroom. At least I'm a little mobile.

Foot surgery is not easy to overcome. I have had major surgery twice on the same heel and tendons. I found I could sit at the table saw and cut segments, glue them up and sit at the drum sanders to clean them up. My doctor prescribed a knee roller for mobility, (did have it go sliding away a couple times, the falls aren't bad but the sudden landings hurt like hell). Anyway I could go to the shop, then put a stool next to my lathe put knee on the stool with a full cast hanging off stool for 3-4 hours a day turned 2 large segmented vases and a lot of small bowls etc. It was 7 weeks of struggle but at least I was turning

Eleven foot surgeries due to diabetic osteomyelitis. Only three toes total. Standing and walking increases bleeding, pain, torn stitches, infections, slows healing, increases swelling. The doctor trained for at least eight years so he could tell you that! Please pay attention

I'm lucky. Only very bad arthritis in big toe. It is now shorter than it was, but getting along nicely. Just bored sitting and not being able to do much. Am following doctors orders and will be back in the shop soon. Hope all of you others with foot problems, get along great.

Just looking at them again for my own pleasure and understanding. Not reviewing them for anyone other than myself. Didn't realize how many I had obtained over the years.
