started new mirrors

I have to make about 15 mirrors before the 15th so got started yesterday morning. Some of those blanks in the foreground were mostly holes so I filled them with black epoxy. The big piece of oak in the foreground had just one knot. Unfortunately the epoxy leaked through the tape on the bottom and almost glued it to the workbench. I usually anticipate that problem and put wax paper underneath but didn't for some reason on that one. I will have to refil it this morning.

I got 4 handles and 5 heads done in the last 2 days. Would have done more but had to stop at noon each day to go help other people. Trying to help a friend set up a photo booth to shoot bathing suits she is selling.

I broke one handle this morning. It had a weak area of grain. I epoxied it back together and think I can save it but I'll have to take really light cuts so it doesn't break again. It was on the tail end of the mirror so it's weak point the customer will have to worry about.

Meant to say

the customer will not have to worry about that weak point because it's just the very end and shouldn't take any abuse.

Making progress on the mirrors

I try to turn 2 or 3 a day before doing the chores around the house. I turned 3 more this morning by 8am. I guess I'm related to John K Jordan in that I don't need a lot of sleep and tend to get up really early.
