...quite a while, and have a show coming up next weekend in Columbus OH at the state fairgrounds. I haven't won an award in several years, so decided to give it a shot. Digging in the wood stash I found this nice block of Cocobolo, 12" W, and my #5 Hunter carbide tool was needed to turn the Newstone top. I hope any of you in the Columbus area will stop in my booth to say "howdy!"

Awesome piece, Jamie

That ought to blow the competition away. Good luck in Columbus.

Two big thumbs up Jamie. We're closer to Ohio than normal, but still not quite close enough. :>(

I rolled down to the picture, and thought, "humm, that's pretty". I find it very pleasing to my eye. I hope you do well with it.....you should.

Very nice form (and beautiful wood!)

I've never head of Newstone. Google brought up some tile and countertop links. One of those?

Newstone was also known by.....

......the name of Environ, and I recently discovered the company looking for a market went out of business in 2011. I found it more than 20 yrs. ago at the Missouri St. Fair soybean producers booth. It was a 4H'ers product made from soybean hulls and newspaper, and available in 4 colors. I like the similar appearance to granite, and have just about used up my stash of the brown. It is hard on tools, I use my carbide #5 Hunter tool for shaping.
