I have a personal FB account which I use to reconnect and keep in touch. I also have a page for my business (http://www.facebook.com/#/pages/Green-Leaf-Wood-Studio/211173705080?ref=ts) where I show new work, announce specials/promos etc. Is is worth it? Well, FB accounts for 50% of my sales volume so far this year and approx. 35% of my sales between October and December. Oh, and I only did two shows in that time. So yes, it can work.
I use Twitter to post links to new products/offerings and whenever I post something new on my blog (yup, got one of them too). I also learn lots off of Twitter through links that others post.
Ellis, what is your Twitter ID? I would follow what you have to say.

>The modern world is obsessed with "quantity" rather than "quality". I may be old fashioned, but I would rather have one close friend who I know well and would trust my life to, than a multitude of people I hardly know at all. I have been a long-time participant in Wood Central, and I have met many people who I have come to know and respect; and I have formed a close friendship with a few of them, and that's good enough for me.

I opened a face book page a couple of months ago on the advice of a friend, a real one. I think I have been back to it once or twice since then.
I am old school. I do have a cell and much to my displeasure it has a camera. It was a free phone so I am stuck with it. I would have a dial phone if you could get around useing the touch tone pad when trying to get to a real person.
And I hate having to "push" 1 for English too.

>The world is moving towards the electronic age. With the speed of a lame dinosaur I am attempting to move with it. I am on Facebook, but limit my friend base and keep my profile hidden. To keep up with and attract the current generation to our craft we will have to accept the fact that Facebook and Twitter are the current "communication tools" of choice.

What is the question?

>Okay, folks, here we are in a whole new year, and it's time -- actually I'm a couple days late -- to unleash our first "Ides" survey of 2010. Since we're an internet-based publication, and, in light of the exploding popularity of "social networking" sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), I thought I'd kick off the new year with a question about these sites/services. Do you subscribe to one or more? Which ones? Do you use them on a regular basis? If so, why?I have a Twitter account and am considering "tweeting" about new developments here at WoodCentral on a regular basis. I would like to get an idea of how many of you would be interested in something like that. Or, do you have any other suggestions as to how we can use available technology to bring you more news and information about woodworking, WoodCentral, or anything else.
Cheers,
Ellis
