Addy Protocol?

>I see the ADDY Protocol at the end of a lot of Posts, denying everything, and I understand, but what is the ADDY Protocol? Where did it come from?

>It comes from a person, Forrest Addy, who posts on this forum. He came up with the disclaimer and it has been picked up and used by others.

>Addy Protocol is definitely not a "denial of everything." It is only a statement of what formal training and experience the poster has, or does not have, on the subject on which they are offering advise. It is intended to help the reader make a more informed judgment of the possible value of the advise. For example, it might be helpful to know whether someone who is offering advise on wiring is a licenced electrician in your state.

My small part

Rod Peterson -- Ormond Beach

>While the Addy Protocol is definitely named for Forrest, and it was definitely based on his assertion once (probably more) back in the Badger Pond days that people giving advice ought to provide an idea of what their qualifications are to so dispense, I am proud of the fact that it was I who actually coined the phrase Addy Protocol. I always bold it when I use it, as seen here. I don't have very many creative eruptions, so I'm particularly proud that people have taken to its use and even that it is recognizable enough to raise the question.

>You are to be commended, Rod. That is a really noble idea. Someday, the term and the concept will be as well respected as Murphy's Law.

Also, your Norm Tool List will be archived and referenced as long as trees and lac bugs aspire to a second life in the form of furniture. Someday, when electrons no longer must die to make sawdust, it will be as well respected as the Leachmeister's Stanley B&G.

However, not all of your ideas are nearly as worthy of immortalization as those. I think you know of that which I speak :^( If you make any further attempts to popularize that other lame-brain idea, or even mention it, I will send you termites, I will send you wind shakes, case hardening, pre-polymerized tung oil, taildoves, damp biscuits, compression checks, orange peel and fisheye, powderpost beetles, loose knots and bark inclusions, tear-out, blue tool edges, embedded squirrel shot, blotchy cherry, vocal cats to serenade you at night, and I will cut WMFE's and WCEU's Nahm feeds! I would still consider you my friend but, like Raymond, you would never be forgiven.

Addy Protocol: I have no credentials and no title, nor have I ever portrayed anyone with credentials or title on TV or in the movies.
