Lathe addiction test

>What does this pic make you think of?

If you said a huge bowl, then your an addict, thats what I thought of.

I got it from a guy I buy wood from, he was going to use it to build a teeter totter.

Here's the wood he traded me for a couple small boxes I turned.

These just feed my addiction, I've been turning on a Jet Mini, dont get me wrong, I love my mini and I'll never get rid of it, but the potential I see in this thing just gives me the chills.

>John, you will need a small block V8 to turn that shaft. A 5 speed trammy would be good also.

>John,

Jet mini+ all of that great looking wood, it's no wonder you see a lathe in that. Maybe you should turn it into a bowl lathe, wouldn't take too much.

Thanks for the pic.

>I guess I qualify as an addict then. I thought "Oooh-Biiiig Bowl!" Kind of a Tim-the-Tool-man Argh,Argh,Argh more power feeling when I saw it. Major jump from a mini! I'll never give mine up either. Nice wood haul too! You're gonna need that big monster to turn those big burls. Have fun!

>Hope this link works (first time I've tried to incorporate one). Tim the Toolman would be pleased.

If this link isn't "live", try typing it in to see this thing. Every house should have a bowl the size of a garage, don't you think?

>Thats what I'm thinking, trying to contact my machinist friend, want him to make a faceplate for me. I've already hooked up my 2 horse vs motor to it. Now to find a stump large enought to mount it to, kinda low for me.
