>Since all of you are lovers of trees, I thought you might appreciate viewing two magnficient trees in a yard that were at a job.

This One being a burly catalpa, the other a magnificient spreading maple.

Enjoy

Bill

>Tom, I'm in Central Virginia. These trees are on an old farm estate with the main brick house dating back to 1796 or so.

>Are there commercial operators who harvest trees specifically to cater to turners? I've purchased a couple of blanks and wonder about how they were obtained. I have this image of somebody, spotting a beauty of a tree, dreaming of blanks for bucks, and then hauling out the chainsaw.....yuck.

Can anybody advise how to avoid this if it is a practice? (basically, since I'm new to the hobby, I'm interested in dried blanks)
