>My lathe arrived Friday after noon unscathed, its BEAUTIFUL! I set it up and cleaned it all off (its more of an oil than that grease that canbevery tough to get off) and fired her up. How quiet and SMOOOTH just doesnt do it justice. I just recieved my chuck adaptor (saturday USPS) so I am off to make some shavings! Ill post again Later. WHOOOOOO HOOOOOO

Re: Mission Control we have lift off! - Be Careful

>Have you heard of turner's elbow? - You can get this from too much turning on a new lathe. How about turner's shoulder (offically known as rotator cuff tendonitis - DAMHIKT)? Take a break once in a while. Have a beverage (beer or otherwise). Down some ibuprofen. Rest, relax - do some flat work.

Round & Round

>AHH....Chris! You're killing me! Mine won't be here til Thursday!! So glad to hear this one got to you undamaged...sure hope mine does too. On the otherhand, my Oneway Stronghold is supposed to be here today, so I guess I can sit and stare at the chuck for a week....why didn't I order an insert for my Jet Mini?!

Geez, you probably won't even come up for air long enough to read this, and I don't blame you a bit!

HAVE FUN!!

Still waiting (im)patiently in Idaho....

Round & Round

>Ok..Ok now that's just plain mean! Geez, that's a nice lathe. I killed the day by picking up some nice big birch pieces from a neighbor that just had her trees felled, and she's also giving me a gigantic Sycamore limb as well.

Hit all the locust I cut up and the birch with anchorseal, made a few pens, found a real pretty piece of maple with some curl in the firewood pile and turned a nice long handle for a new scraper.

Busy work..you know..to keep my mind of that lathe travelling across the states in some truck with a driver that could probably care less!!

>Chris, I'm smiling huge for you!

I remember the first time I flipped on my new lathe.....I stood there after the delivery truck pulled away.....couldn't beleive my eyes, that it was really MINE......pushed the on button....slooooooooowly turned up the dial...listened to the whirring of the smooth quiet motor..and just whispered the words.....Oh, Wowwwwwwwwwwwww!

Woohoo! Have a blast Chris!

Jennifer :)

Congrats Chris!!

>Hi Chris,

Nothing like a new big lathe in the shop.

Now, do your best to wear it out.:) I am sure you have been saving some big pieces of wood for it. Have fun and be safe.

Dave
