New toy - Thanks Dominic

>I finally got my 1642 EVS set up. I built a ballast box similar to what is described in Dominic's article in the WC Article section. I wanted to add a drawer unit to store the tools that weren't in use. The ballast box is filled with bags of drainage gravel rather than sand. Thanks Dominic for the article and the idea.

You're very welcomed! Glad to see that those plans went to good use.

Adding a drawer was a cool idea. It looks great.

Have fun with the new lathe.

See ya around,

Dominic

>Two ways - Clicking on the link below is one of them. Another is by going in the "front door" of this forum (http://www.woodcentral.com/newforum/turning.shtml). You should see the "brown" side bar. Click on "WC Article & Reviews" under the "Articles & Reviews" section. When you get there, scroll down and click on Turning Tools & Techniques. Dominic has a couple of articles. The one on the ballast box is towards the end.

>Nice job on the ballast box! Oh, nice lathe too!! I like the addition of the tool drawers. I am seriously considering building one of these for my 1442.

>Thanks. One word of warning though. Carefully calculate the drawer unit height. I mounted the ballast box between two 2x4s and I ripped one of the "scraps" in half to act as cleats to hold the ballast box. The drawer unit fits right on top of the box, with 2 scraps of 2x4 holding it on the box. The drawer unit just squeaked in. I probably should have made it 1" shorter.
