sounds like I did somptin Stupid?

>I have an old Grizzly lathe and some one in the office left a magazine on my desk that had a review of the Grizzly lathe chuck. so I figured $40 why not. I haven't seen the need to spend big $ on one in the past and hardly ever use the lathe. I have a big pile of wood in front of the garage the wife has been complaning about. so for the last couple nights I have been removing the eye sore frome in front of the garage one blank at a time. I have turned a couple poupri dishes. and think the chuck works pretty good once you get used to it and have only used a face plate & compression chuck for turning. So I figured I would stop ove here and see what the thoughts were on this chuck and I guess they are junk from the reviews and comments. I happen to like mine for the price. but I'm not what you all would call a serious turner.

>If you can't find time to turn all those blanks, Ernie, I know what you can do with some of them! :) BTW, what happened to the "Send a chunk of wood thing" that was discussed after Christmas?

>THe wood exchange is kind of a logistics nightmare. so I have given up on trying to organize it. I will be sending chunks of wood out to some of the people who go in touch with me. I sharpened up the chain saw last night and will be going after some of the nicer burls and chunks real soon. the weather has broke and it is garage shop season for 30-45 days untill the heat hits. There is so much cleaning to be done. The spalt pile is 4' high and the burl pile is 3' and then there is a crotch pile. inside is the real mess Flat boards everywhere. I keep bring home more and no where to put it. The work bench has a pile of hand saws probably 30-40 of them that needs sold or stacked in the basement. To top it off I went out to turn somthing last night and the point on my live center has fell out and I can't find it got out the big maginet and no luck yet. What is the average size blank you turn? flat rate boxes are 11" X 8.5" X 5.5" so whar ever I send will have to fit in that.
