>Link below to a WC article, the pic of the cabined is near the bottom of the page. I reposted the photo of the motor in its shelf below.

The cabinet is made from 3/4" birch plywood. Width is 30" by 20" deep. The lathe is mounted closer to the front of the cabinet, but the extra depth provides some stability. The top is another piece of 3/4" ply with solid wood edging. There is another piece of 3/4" ply laminated to the underside of the top to make it more solid. This piece fits inside the carcass. The top is attached with 14 screws to 1x2" pieces around the inside perimeter of the top, 3/4" below the top of course. Locking wheels are from Woodcraft, but I seldom lock them.

The shelf is about 10" from the top, which of course depends on the motor and mount used. I bought an extra motor pulley from Jet for the DC motor. I had to ream the pulley slightly to fit the 5/8" shaft. The original motor is still in place, a belt change is all I need to do to put it back in operation.

A longer serpentine belt of proper lenth was bought from www.aarubcorubber.com. It is a J-section Poly-V with 3 ribs, to fit the spindle pulley.

The speed control potentiometer was later mounted in a box, and is on top of the table.

You can get a top-notch Minarik contrller for about $56 from www.surpluscenter.com. The DC output can be selected by switch to 90 or 180 VCD. They have surplus treadmill motors too.

I hope this helps. Any other questions please let me know.
