>I was in Lowes yesterday buying some paint and low and behold there was a woodturning design magazine sitting on the shelf. I may have to talk to them about doing a demo there this spring to see if we can get a few new members.

>Well, that's a start. Maybe we could talk them into carrying "Woodturning" magazine. I'm having a problem finding it in any of the stores I go to. I used to pick it up at Woodcraft in Louisville, but they no longer stock it. Why? They said it was overpriced and you couldn't buy anything from the ads (or, even figure out the price). I responded, "Yeah, that may be true, but I would still buy one if you had it on the shelf". I am usually able to pick one up at Books A Million in Sevierville, but haven't been there lately. Any ideas, other than subscribing?

>This is the editors contact information. I can't remember her name but I have spoke to her a couple of times on different issues, and she has been very helpful. I'd suggest contacting her, letting her know about the problem and see what she can do. If nothing else, it will be good feedback for the magazine on making improvements and maybe it will stay around rather than going out of business like so many others...

>Why *NOT* subscribe? www.lighteningpublications.com has it for $59.95/yr. Far cheaper than the cover price or the subscription leaflets in the mag itself. Simple economics...

>I probably will........there's just something about grabbing a fresh new pristine issue off the newsstand. I do subscribe to a number of other magazines.......sometimes the Post Office does a number on the covers (maybe they read them first) before they arrive.

>Barry - Woodturning comes in a plastic bag. It mails from France and sometimes Sweden. Have had no problem with damage at all in the 9 months I have been subscribing. Received Am. Woodturner last week damaged.

>John, thats a great idea. Both for the club and for Lowe's, and the customers for that matter. I think I'm going to borrow your idea and see what response I get. In fact, I bet if we tried we could get AAW and Lowe's together for a national turning demo day. With the explosion of the turning clubs nationwide, not to mention Lowe's, it wouldn't be too hard to match them up.

>The information posted in the above message is contact information for "Woodturning Design" magazine. "American Woodturner" is the AAW journal. Marie won't be able to help you with that problem.
