>Those are very nice. Do you actually get those things sold? They have to be pretty high priced and finding the right market for them would be tough.
I noticed in a thread a day or so ago that a gent was advised to turn some things on his little Jet mini and sell them to begin building up a fund to buy a bigger lathe. I wonder how to sell them. Years ago I tuned quite a bit and had some pretty nice things but I could never find a market where people would pay even a third what they would be worth. I always admire those who are able to find a market for their productions.

>Doug, the "tires" are common plumbing o-rings (Buna-N). There's a link below to the store where I get them.
The rings serve several purposes...they add weight to the outer rims (better/faster spin), provide a little cushion when the yoyo hits the floor, and most importantly (for my turning process)the groove that the rings fit into serves as a self-centering device when the yo-yo is reverse chucked in a scroll-chuck with dovetail jaws. And, I think they look pretty cool as well.

>Thanks Don. You might be surprised at how many people collect yo-yos, and pay big bucks for the privilege.
Yes, I sell a few...some off my website, some on eBay and a few through consignments. Pricing and establishing worth is a math problem for some and a subjective guessing game for others. My thinking is that this is a great hobby, and if my tools and supplies get paid for while I'm building experience and skills, then I'm a very happy turner.
BTW, there's a link below to a popular yo-yo information site that list (among other things) the highest prices ever paid for rare and common yo-yos...interesting stuff.
