Email ?..WAY off topic

MikeinCapeMay

>Maybe someone here can answer this. I use Netscape's email program, beginning this morning, each time that I click on my Inbox I see what appears to be an email message. There is no subject, no message and no sender. Only the date 12-31-1969 appears. When I open the message nothing is there. I delete, it goes to trash and then I empty it. When I open the inbox again, there it is. No I have not attempted to reply to it.

Any idea what this is?

Thanks!

Mike

>I wouldn't have even tried to open it but since you have if there is any damage it has probably been done.

1. Click on view, headers, all. This might show you what is going on.

2. Run an updated virus scan.

I asked my ISP about this type of message that appears to be blank and they advised the sending was using some type of white on white font.

>I ran headers and get nothing. I checked message security and it says that there is no digital signature. I run Norton constantly and nothing has been detected.

This thing just appears repeatedly in the Inbox, I don't have to go to the server for new messages.

So far nothing more has occurred other than the fact that it's annoying. The "so far" portion is what concerns me but, Norton hasn't found anything.

>I tried the free downloads at about 5 sites and the downloads won't work.....from any of the sites.

I wonder if something is in my system blocking downloads. I also wonder if I purchase software at a store will I be able to install it?

This is just getting more and more weird.

>First cover some of the simple things before running spy software etc.

Look in your preferences and see what you have set for colors. Do you have it set to use your colors or the senders? If yes, then change that and set the text to show in black and the background in white.

Then see if message is readable. In the future, when you see a suspicious message, right click on the message and then go down to "delete" and left click to kill it, don't open it.

The other thing is, do you have your browser set for messages to "stay" on the server, or delete them when you download them. If it's not the latter, you may be getting it everytime to ask for mail. Delete it on the server.

Now if you had Norton "Go Back" you could revert your harddrive back to before you first downloaded this message with just a couple of mouse clicks.

Love that program.

>Mike Ask your isp to delete it for you.

You may also be able to access your E-Mail through your browser and delete it that way at the isp level.

Generaly access your ISP as a web site and look for E_Mail.

Good luck
