Spent a day with Bill Grumbine

>Spent Saturday with Bill Grumbine. What a day. I have seen the video, but a whole day with him will teach you more than you can imagine. Got to spend time doing everything with a bowl, even a natural edge bowl. If anybody wants to learn about bowls go spend a day with Bill. He is a great person and a great teacher. I will be going back.

>Hi Chris

After seeing these pictures, I can definitely say that I really have to get that shop cleaned! Warmer weather is coming though, and I will be able to open the big doors soon. Of course I don't think that will do me much good, but I will feel like I have more room. We all enjoyed your visit, and Lisa was very happy to see us loading logs up into your truck. She wants me to get that section of the yard back to actual yard again, so I was able to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. I see you got that core roughed out, and it is looking good. I am going to do the other half of that log today, if all goes well.

Good luck with finishing them off.

>My wife has been wondering how to pass the time while I'm in your shop later this week. Maybe she can just clean it for you! I guarantee she won't throw anything away (never does), but then again you might never again find any given item. :-)

Re: Spent a day with Bill ... Me too! Via DVD!

>Hey! I spent today with Bill today also!

Just wanted to say that I received Bills Video this morning in the mail I was pleasantly surprised at the speed in which he got the thing shipped after I purchased it online (3 days from payment to my post office box.)

After spending a day with my friend Sam Dean (forum member) and soaking up as much instruction as I could in one day from him (basically we went from bowl blanks we cut from the downed honey locust tree in my back yard to a finished roughed out bowl) He knows his stuff!

After turning for several years Sams visit to my shop Caused me to realized how much I had to learn about bowl turning after reading about Bill's video I took the plunge and used my pay pal to buy the DVD.

I received the DVD this morning and just finished watching the complete video for the second time today

I just want to tell everyone that it was $$ well spent I wonder how many Hrs. of trile and error I will save with the information contained on this 2 Hr. DVD It was well put together. And full of techniques that will make my hobby both more productive, but safer just his instruction on tool positions and finishing was worth the price of the

DVD

Thanks Bill for a well put together video seminar

>I got to meet Bill a couple weeks ago when I took him up on his generous offer of some of that wood. I also picked up the DVD from him and have watched it a few times. Each time I pick up something that didn't quite sink in the previous time. Of course I found lots of things I was doing wrong and look to develop better habits.

I plan on getting up there again to spend the day in a class with him.

Thanks again for the wood, Bill its drying in paper bags. The pecan turned nicely green. I look forward to finishing the pieces.
