>I believe Barbara was asking about bird pecked pecan wood the other day. This is a bowl made from some of it. It is 9.25 in. wide X 3.5 in. high, finished with Russ's tung oil solution, and buffed.

>Very, very nice. I give up though. It almost looks like you have sapwood in between two pieces of heartwood. What part of the tree did it come from?

>Nice bowl, Glenn,

I just cut a big hickory with the "bird-peck" figure all through it.

How well did the pecan turn? The only hickory I've turned so far was a piece of green burl. I imagine the straight grain turns a bit differently.

Thanks,

Gary

>Thanks for the comments. This pecan comes from the regular part of the tree just like most of my bowls, and it cuts easy, until it dries, and then pecan is very hard. Pecan and hickory are close cousins.

I LOVE THIS WOOD!

David Propst

>I absolutely love this wood. I have only gotten some of a couple of times and would take it over about anything I have turned except good cherry. It has beautiful patterns, the contrast is great, and it turns and finishes great.

I'm jealous!

Best Regards,

David
